Appellation Corbieres Controlee Concentrated powerful wine, chockfull of red and black fruits such as cherries, black berries, subtle toasted wood, mild spices (Garrigue), chocolate and some liquorice. The vineyards of the Carignan that are used for the produce of this wine are more than a 100 years old. The other grapes used for this wine are Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. All grapes are handpicked and vinified under controlled temperatures. The wines are aged for several months in brand new French oakwood barrels. This process is unique because there different units of capacity used: 225 litres, 400 litres and 600 litres. The same wine goes into these different sized barrels and because of the influence of these various measures, each barrel has its own unique flavor. The wine is aged for 12 months and then blended in different proportions. Each harvest is different, depending on the blend.
